Esperança (M.I.A.U.)
This was an invitaiton to participate in the Mostra International d’Art Urbà. After having receiving a tour of Caldes de Montbui to visualize a project, I proposed and acted on the clean-up of an abandoned thermal water tanery with the intention to return it to the people as a public bathing pool. This project questions what can be considered art. The act of cleaning the space became a performative action during the week of the festival, ending with a public hotbath and swim. According to the memory of the residents of Caldes de Montbui, the thermal “safareig” had been unused for approximately 25 years. The space has since been fully restorated and is presently in use.
