Cocoons
…
First recording of my daughter´s transitional cocoon (Kai´s house, Collserola, Spain). This cocoon is made from found silk cut into strips and crocheted into a shape big enough for my daughter to immerse herself. This idea developed from observing her occasional desire or frustration of wanting to still be an infant. I realized that there is an important psychological transformation that occurs between the infant and the child, much like the later metamorphosis between the child and the adult. I wanted to give her a physical space to accept that she is no longer an infant while being able to feel a full body embrace like the infant once knew.
Finished my cocoon sometime in the Spring of 2017. Photo of Tina Delehag on my studio floor, camera arranged by Tina, photographed by 5 year old LLuna.
